Portion Fit privacy policy
Last updated September 8, 2026
Portion Fit is a food and nutrition app made by Madhusudhan Reddy. This page says what the app collects, why, where it goes, and how to remove it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.
What you give the app
- Account. Your email address, and your name if you sign in with Apple or Google. Used to sign you in and keep your food log across phones.
- Profile. Weight, height, age, sex, goal, weekly workouts, diet, foods you avoid, allergies, and optional health context such as PCOS or hypothyroidism. Used only to calculate your targets and score food for you.
- Food and weight logs. What you log, when, and at which meal. Water intake. This is the core of the app.
- Photos and audio you choose to send. A menu photo, a plate photo, or a voice clip is sent to an AI service to read it. Plate photos and voice clips are not stored after they are read. A menu you scan is kept, with its dishes, so the next person at that restaurant does not have to scan it again; your name is not attached to it.
- Instagram links you share. A reel you share to the app is fetched and read by the AI service to write the recipe. The recipe and its image are stored so they appear in your cookbook and, if you share it, in the community cookbook.
- Location. Used on your phone to find restaurants near you. Your location is sent to the map provider to fetch places and is not stored by Portion Fit, except when you start a group "where can everyone eat" session, where it is used to pick a place for the group.
- Apple Health. Only if you connect it. The app reads active energy, steps, sleep, and weight to adjust your day, and writes meals you log so they show in Health. Health data is used on your phone and is not sent to Portion Fit's servers.
- Coaches and friends. If you link with a coach or friend, they see what you choose to share: streak only, calories and protein, or everything. You can change or remove the link at any time from the People tab.
Who processes it
- Supabase hosts the account, the logs, and the stored menus and recipes (servers in the United States).
- Google Gemini reads menu and plate photos, voice clips, and shared videos, and writes recipes and coaching answers. It receives the content you send and a short description of your targets and recent eating, never your email or name.
- Apple Maps and Google Places return nearby restaurants for the location you allow.
- USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts supply nutrition data for foods you search. They receive the search text only.
Portion Fit does not sell your data, does not show ads, and does not use advertising or tracking SDKs. It keeps simple usage counts, such as how many people logged food this week, computed from the logs above.
Your choices
- Log without an account: the food log then stays on your phone only.
- Turn off location, camera, microphone, or Apple Health at any time in iOS Settings. The matching feature stops; nothing else changes.
- Change what a coach or friend sees, or remove them, from the People tab.
Deleting your data
Delete your account from the You tab under Account, or email madhu666.mm@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. The account, profile, logs, and links to coaches and friends are removed within 30 days. Menus you scanned stay in the shared pool without any link to you.
Children
Portion Fit is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
